Your Embarrassing Bikini Waxing Questions Answered

Waxing is not exactly fun... add in embarrassment and pain to the mix, and you have a brutal combination. However don’t let fear keep you from getting your groom on. It's a fact that you are not alone feeling like this and today we have your top embarrassing questions answered for you!

1. I’ve never gone for a bikini wax because I’m embarrassed to get so naked in front of a stranger. How does the process work?
Here at The Beauty Clinic, we provide very customer with disposable underwear and towel if needed. Within minutes we will make you feel relaxed and comfortable, knowing that the most important thing for us is to provide you with the quickest and most painless treatment. We are not here to judge and as professionals discretion is extremely important.

2. What Do You DO While Getting Waxed?
The most important thing to do is to try to relax your body, keeping tense for the whole treatment will not be a good experience. Chatting to your therapist, who will keep a friendly & calm manner throughout the treatment can also help to distract you from the pain. But of course if you prefer to lie back, close you eyes whilst you focus your mind elsewhere, that is also perfectly normal.

3. I want to try waxing but I’m afraid I might cry or scream from the pain. How painful is it?
There is no hiding the fact that waxing is painful... the way you deal with the pain from your treatment is entirely up to the individual and their personal pain threshold. Overall it's definitely not as horrible a people make it out to be in their mind before coming in for a treatment and within hours you will have forgotten all about it. To help make the whole experience smoother and that bit less painful, we advise you to opt for Lyon Wax when you are going to have any of our bikini wax treatments. Lycon has a low temperature formula, it shrink-wraps and removes hair as short as 1mm. Should there be difficult or stubborn hair growth to remove... Lycon can be re-applied on the same area many times without the wax feeling too hot and without causing skin trauma or irritation.

4. What if I am hairier than most women? How long should I wait between appointments?
Going in for your treatment with a full growth of hair is not uncommon. The only thing to be aware of is that the whole treatment may take longer since there is more to wax and more pulling can occur, which can cause more pain. If you have the time to trim the hair a little bit before your appointment, than it may work at your advantage. If not don't stress... our highly trained therapists will look after you. The recommended time between appointments is 3 to 4 weeks, depending on your own hair growth. We always recommend to come back for your waxing treatments within this period to have the best results & minimise any pain you may experience.

5. What if I have my period?

Waxing during your period is perfectly normal & nothing to be embarrassed about, so don't cll to cancel your appointment for this little reason alone. It's important to remember to clean the area well and wear a new tampon for your treatment. Yes the area may feel bit more sensitive than usual due to the extra hormones, but it won't be any more painful than it usually is.

So that's the top 5 embarrassing questions answered for you... If you have any other questions we didn't answer here don't be afraid to ask us! You can send us an email, give us a call or even pop in to our salon - we are here to help in any way we can.

Overall we do recommend waxing against shaving... waxing pulls the hair out from the root, while shaving removes the hair from the top of the skin. When you wax, it takes longer for the hair to grow back and when it does grow back, it often comes in thinner. When you shave, the hair will start growing back faster and it will grow in the same as before. Once you start waxing regularly, you will see the benefits.
