Rosacea Awareness Month
Rosacea is a common but poorly understood disorder of the facial skin that affects millions of people. Symptoms often begin with episodes of flushing, where the skin turns red for a short period, other symptoms can develop as a condition progresses such as burning or stinging sensation, permanent redness, spots and small blood vessels in the skin becoming visible.
The exact cause of rosacea is unknown, although a number of possible factors have been suggested, including abnormalities in the blood vessels of the face and a reaction to microscopic mites commonly found on the face.
Although they're not though to be direct causes of the condition, several triggers have been identified that may make rosacea worse.
- Exposure to sunlight
- Strenuous exercise
- Hot or cold weather
- Hot drinks
- alcohol and caffeine
- Certain foods such as spicy food
Although there is no cure for rosacea there are treatments that can help to reduce the symptoms. We use Ellipse IPL to control the symptoms of rosacea. The Ellipse treatment works using short, safe bursts of intense pulsed light (called IPL) directed at the skin. The system filters the light to ensure the wavelengths used are absorbed by haemoglobin in the blood in you problem vessels. The light is converted to heart, which destroys the protein in the wall of the blood vessels, causing the vessels to gradually disappear after treatment. The most common treatment deals with the diffuse redness found in early stages of rosacea, but the individual vessels which develop later can also be treated.
The treatment time depends on the area to be covered and the number of distinct vessels to be treated. A single session typically lasts 10-20 minutes. A consultation would need to be done before any treatment begins. the number of treatments depends on location and number of your thread veins. Clinical studies have confirmed that 1-4 treatments are usually needed.
Treatment prices start from £75.00
